Canberra’s spirit scene is buzzing, and we’re thrilled to be part of it.This spring, Underground Spirits joins Discover Spirits CBR — a new initiative at the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre showcasing local distilleries and the creativity that defines our region.
Each week, visitors can taste, learn, and connect with the makers behind some of the best gin, vodka, whisky, and liqueurs in the country. It’s all part of a growing movement to celebrate the incredible spirits being made right here in the Canberra region — and we couldn’t be prouder to be pouring alongside our peers.
And yes, we’re bringing something extra special to the table (or should we say, teapot).
Stirred, Not Spilled — Cocktails in Teapots
You asked (a lot!) in our DMs for the cocktail recipes from our Floriade Gin Garden, so we decided it’s time to spill the tea together.
We’ve turned your favourite Floriade cocktails into an interactive workshop — a 1.5-hour hands-on experience where you’ll learn how to make two of our most-loved creations:
🌸 The Watermelon Slide — bright, refreshing, and an absolute fan favourite.
🍷 The Garden — a taste of springtime in a teapot, made with wine from our fabulous friends at Contentious Character.
We’ll show you how to mix, shake, and pour cocktails to share, talk through the art of balancing flavours, and share our thoughts on how wine brings beautiful depth to cocktails. Of course, there’ll be stories, tips, and a few secrets along the way — because that’s the Underground way.
Each guest will enjoy two half-pots of cocktails during the session, a few high tea treats to nibble on, and take home two mini bottles and recipe cards so you can recreate the magic. It’s an afternoon of flavour, laughter, and a touch of classic classiness — all set at the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre overlooking Lake Burley Griffin.

Spirits CBR is part of a new regional initiative led by the NSW & ACT Distillers Association in partnership with Visit Canberra. It’s designed to give visitors a taste of our local spirit — literally — through workshops and stories that highlight the quality and creativity of Canberra’s distillers.
We love being part of this movement. It’s about putting local spirits front and centre, giving people a reason to explore, taste, and fall in love with what’s being crafted right here in our backyard.
