Our NEW Urban Distillery Experience at the Canberra Region Visitors Centre this summer
In a first for Underground Spirits, and indeed any distillery in the Canberra region, we are proud to announce we are now offering Canberra’s first ever lakeside gin experience this summer.
Our new Underground Spirits Urban Distillery Experience takes place at the Canberra Region Visitors Centre on the edge of Lake Burley Griffin during summer 2020/21.
This is a specialty tasting bar collaboration, offering Canberrans and visitors alike the chance to take part in one (or perhaps even two!) of two small group immersive gin masterclasses featuring our award-winning premium spirits range, with unsurpassed views of Lake Burley Griffin and Canberra’s major attractions in the summer sunshine.
Our masterclasses take place in a beautiful setting adorned with Australian florals and botanicals, our special Instagrammable spot, a beautifully illustrated mural explaining our gin making process, with a seated area to enjoy your tasting experience. You will be guided by Underground’s experienced staff and mixologists.

The Spirit of Canberra – Underground Spirits Experience
45 minutes. Two sessions per day.
An immersive experience to share Underground Spirits’ history in Canberra, the history of gin, production processes and botanicals. The journey continues as we explore the history of the G&T and how to make the perfect G&T.
Includes:
- 4 sample tastings.
- One G&T Long Drink.
Cost: $35 + booking fee per person.
Underground Spirits Mixed Up! Tasting & Cocktail Masterclass
1 hour. One session per day.
Who doesn’t need to make cocktails by the lake this year?!
Join our Mixologist for a cocktail making demo and discover the best festive cocktails, Underground style. We talk through the theatre of cocktail making and really show you how to shake!
Includes:
- 2 cocktails.
- 4 sample tastings.
- Bar snacks.
Cost: $65 + booking fee per person.
Our Urban Distillery Experiences operate Thursday – Sunday each week, with various session times available. Pre-booking is essential. Check session times and dates for availability. These are small group experiences, places are limited.
